TikTok Caption & Subtitle Download

1. Copy the link. In the TikTok app, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from your browser. Short links (vm.tiktok.com) work too.
2. Paste it into the box on our TikTok transcript tool and click Generate Transcript.
3. Wait about 15–45 seconds. The tool fetches the audio and turns the speech into timed lines.
4. Download or copy. Pick SRT for video editors, VTT for web players, or TXT for plain text. You can also copy the text straight from the page.

The video must be public. There is no file upload, so a TikTok saved on your phone has to be posted publicly first, or you need a tool that accepts uploads.

The times come from the speech itself, not from a fixed grid. We checked every TikTok transcript stored in our cache on 26 September 2026 — all 1,658 had their own start and end times for each line. That matters when you place subtitles on a video: each line shows up when the words are said.

TikTok's own caption tools are for showing captions inside the app. Creators can turn on auto captions while editing a video and fix the words, and viewers can switch captions on or off. To get the words as a file, people use a separate tool. Which kind of tool fits depends on the job:

A caption-track copier fits when

• the creator turned captions on, and
• you want exactly the words the creator shows, including their own fixes.

Captions from the audio fit when

• the video has no captions, or the tool you tried says none were found;
• the only text is burned into the picture, so it cannot be copied;
• you need a timed SRT or VTT file of what is actually said.

What a file from the audio will not include

• Text stickers and other words typed onto the video.
• The post description and hashtags — those are not spoken.
• Song lyrics may be partly written down or skipped, depending on how clearly they are sung.

• Video editors: most editors can import an SRT file as a subtitle track — for example Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. You can then change the font and position.
• YouTube: YouTube Studio accepts both SRT and VTT files when you add subtitles, which helps if you re-post a TikTok as a Short.
• Websites: VTT is the format web video players read. Add it to your video player as a caption track.
• Quick edits: an SRT file is plain text. Open it in any text editor, fix a word, and keep the number and time lines as they are.

The speech model writes down what it hears. Read the file once before you use it, and look for:

• Names and brands — people's names, product names, and slang are the most common mistakes.
• Numbers — prices, dates, and amounts.
• Loud music — fast talk over a loud song is hard for any speech model. Words under the music may be missing or wrong.
• Long lines — split a long line into two if it will be hard to read on a phone screen.

"Unrecognised URL"

The box accepts TikTok video links in three shapes:

• tiktok.com/@name/video/1234567890 — the full link from a browser
• vm.tiktok.com/AbC123 — the short link from the app's Share button
• tiktok.com/t/AbC123 — another short link format

Links to a profile, a sound, a hashtag, or a photo post (tiktok.com/@name/photo/…) are not video links, so the tool does not accept them. Open the video itself and copy its link again.

"No transcript returned"

This means the tool could not get any speech from the video. The usual reasons are that the video is private, friends-only, or removed, or that nobody speaks in it — for example a dance set to music. Check that the link opens for someone who is not logged in to TikTok.

The captions stop after one minute

That is the free plan: it shows the first minute of each video, and the SRT, VTT, and TXT files cover the same part. The page tells you how much of the transcript is hidden. Pro returns the whole video.

Some words are wrong

Fix them in the text file or your editor before you publish. Names, slang, and speech under loud music cause most mistakes. See the checklist above.
