Today I want to talk about something that completely changed how I think about building habits — and it's the concept of compounding. Most people think about habits in isolation. You either do the habit or you don't. But that's not how it works in practice. What actually happens is that habits build on each other. When you exercise in the morning, you're more likely to eat well. When you eat well, you sleep better. When you sleep better, you have more energy to exercise. It becomes a loop. The research on this is pretty clear. James Clear talks about it in Atomic Habits. The idea is that a one percent improvement every day compounds to a 37x improvement over a year. That's not just motivational math — it has real implications for how you design your systems. So the question isn't "what habit should I build?" The question is "what habit, if I built it, would make every other habit easier?" That's the keystone habit. And finding yours is the whole game.
